Matt Hoysted hails from a family steeped in racing tradition. Not only is he a descendant of one of racing’s oldest dynasties on the paternal side of his ancestry, but his mother’s maiden name is Hickmott – another instantly recognisable name in the sport of kings.

"I suppose I was never going to be anything else but a horse trainer," – Matt Hoysted.

Matt’s ‘bloodlines’ saw him learn the intricacies of training with the legendary Lloyd Williams, as well as Mike Moroney, Tony Gollan and Steve O’Dea, with whom he trained in partnership for four seasons before establishing Matt Hoysted Racing in 2024.

Matt’s attention to detail, work ethic and ambition are the pillars of a young, vibrant stable hungry to build on success that has already witnessed victory at Group 1 level.
