Sunny Coast double caps big weekend
Monday, 13 Jul 2026

A successful weekend was capped by a winning double at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.
After 2yo filly APEX PREDATOR kept her unbeaten record intact at Doomben Saturday, it was over to QUICK RELEASE and SEISMIC BOOM to continue the stable’s momentum at Caloundra and both got the job done in their respective races.
QUICK RELEASE, a 2yo debutant by STAY INSIDE, started at $12 in the 1200m maiden for juveniles but came from well back in the field to win in the shadows of the post.
Jag Guthmann-Chester, who has supplied a consistent flow of winners for the stable in recent months, guided QUICK RELEASE down the middle of the home stretch before getting the bob in a three way go.
Guthmann-Chester then repeated the dose in the meeting’s closing event as SEISMIC BOOM swooped to win by 1.3 lengths.
It was a welcome return to form for the 3yo filly having contested stronger races in previous runs this preparation.
Both SEISMIC BOOM and QUICK RELEASE were sold from Kenmore Lodge drafts via the Magic Millions March Yearling Sale and Magic Millions Horses In Training Sale respectively.
