CANTANKEROUS a maiden no more!

After four placings in six career starts, CANTANKEROUS deservedly broke through with a dominant victory at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
The 4yo gelding won the 1200m contest as an even money favourite should, enjoying the run of the race behind the speed before careering away for a 2.6-length win.
The race time of 1:10.85 was comfortably the fastest of three 1200m events on the program, which included two Class 1 Handicaps.
CANTANKEROUS was the second of two winners on the day for rider Justin Huxtable, who hadn’t been aboard the son of RUBICK since March of last year when the pair finished 4th of 5 in a trial at the Gold Coast.
The Racing League and the Hoysted stable combined to purchase CANTANKEROUS for $190,000 at the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
