Lightly raced gelding SIX OF WANDS posted consecutive wins when annexing Class 1 company at Ipswich on Saturday.
The leap from maiden grade to Class 1 is a notoriously difficult one but SIX OF WANDS was up for the challenge, leading the field of 11 before holding on for a gritty 0.14 length win over the 1350m course.
Stable apprentice Fiona Sandkuhl was able to control the race from the front and the son of ZOUSAIN did the rest.
The win followed a similarly narrow victory in a Gold Coast maiden last month, when another apprentice rider, Leah Martyn, was in the saddle.
SIX OF WANDS was purchased by loyal stable client Michelle Petrofski (3MG Racing) for $60,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.
The Hoysted Racing team has now produced four winners from its last five runners!
