CHIEF CHARGES to victory!
Thursday, 15 Jan 2026

Lightly-raced gelding CHIEF IN CHARGE grabbed his second metropolitan victory in the closer at Doomben on Wednesday.
After resuming with an eye-catching third at the Sunshine Coast on Boxing Day, CHIEF IN CHARGE started a well-supported $4.40 second favourite in the 1350m Class 1 Handicap while the odds-on bookies' elect DOMINANT DARCY eased from $1.45 to $1.65.
The money proved to be spot on as CHIEF IN CHARGE, partnered by Jag Guthmann-Chester, got the better of DOMINANT DARCY, albeit by a slender margin on the line.
Both of the 4yo's career wins have come second-up from a spell over the 1350m Doomben course whilst he has placed on five other occasions in only nine trips to the races.
The son of PIERATA is raced by Machine Bloodstock after being purchased for just $11,000 online via the Inglis Digital platform.
CHIEF IN CHARGE's win was the Hoysted stable's 6th in the first fortnight of the new year.
