Two from Two!

Two winners from two runners completed a perfect weekend for the Matt Hoysted stable.

The first leg of the double came on Saturday at the Gold Coast where 2yo RULE THE NIGHT broke his maiden at just the second time of asking.

Following an eye-catching 2nd on debut at Doomben last month, RULE THE NIGHT justified his prohibitively short odds ($1.35) in winning the 1400m maiden handicap narrowly but decisively for rider Jag Guthmann-Chester.

The gelding is the 8th winner this season for his freshman sire WILD RULER.

Twenty-four hours later at the Sunshine Coast, stablemate TEELG - another grand son of SNITZEL being by RUSSIAN REVOLUTION - was also able to shed the maiden tag.

The 4yo gelding was first-up on a heavy (10) over 1200m but won with a minimum of fuss, crossing the finish line with a length to spare.

TEELG also had a 60kg impost in the testing conditions but rider Boris Thornton kept his mount out of trouble and travelling well in an on pace position. 

The win was certainly a deserved one, as he had finished runner up in both of his previous outings last preparation. 

The stable’s weekend double brought up a half century of winners for the 2025-26 season, eight shy of last season’s tally with six weeks remaining in the current term.
