ICYMISS lights up Rocky!

On Thursday the stable made a rare trip to Rockhampton with a trio of runners, returning with a winner and feature placegetter.

ICYMISS justified her $1.85 favouritism with a comfortable 4.2 length victory in the opening event – a 1050m maiden for 2yos and 3yos.

The striking grey filly had finished 4th, 4th, 5th and 3rd in four previous attempts at breaking her maiden in south-east Queensland.

First-up on Thursday, ICYMISS travelled midfield between runners before dashing clear under hands and heels riding by Boris Thornton.

Then in the fifth race it was over to stablemate PONTEVICO but the gelding couldn’t get into the contest from back in the field, finishing 8th.

That disappointment was somewhat lessened when OUROBOROS finished a close-up 3rd in the meeting’s feature event – the $100,000 Rockhampton Newmarket (1300m).

This saw the 5yo gelding take his career prizemoney past the $400,000 mark.
